The feeling of self betrayal is so very hard to get over because it’s all of you. No missing context, just you (the proverbial “you”) and your memories, your entire history, and your thoughts. You know everything about yourself and are critical. I absolutely know the feeling and the shame. The lighter side of this is knowing that the recognition of the self betrayal comes from developing self love. For me, it wasn’t until I truly learned to respect myself that I realized how awful I treated myself before. Its a heavy, disgusting feeling sure, but its from a mindset where you finally regard yourself as someone worth protecting and choosing better for. It’s a totally warped circle! I write this all to say, you arent alone and healing takes time but its always in progress. Sending you love ❤️
